@Miguel: Do you ever wonder at the use of the term 'tech' to describe what we're talking about? Pencils are tech, too. I know you know this. I just think we need to re-frame our language.

There is no doubt that blogging forces one to be more concrete and as such is a very good writing exercise. Sometimes students feel they are so very creative, have such wonderful thoughts but when they are forces to formulate them in a way that other can respond it forces them to see their strengths and weaknesses as a thinker and as a writer.
When it is only the professor then it is easy to blame him in all sorts of things and dismiss part of his criticism but being forced to really communicate is not so easy for some. Both the ideas and the writing can be criticized.
Blogging can be a challenge is this aspect.

Great points, Clay. Technology isn't a catalyst...yes, it's a truth I have a hard-time buying. If we can accept reflection on our work, how we can improve on our practice, and technology's transformation role...well, then, the value of tech becomes obvious.

Clay,

For those who "get it" blogging is a heady mix of reflective thinking and stimulating conversation.

Perhaps the students who are unconvinced of the virtues of blogs as they presently exist will be instrumental in helpful this artform to evolve.

What an adventure life is!

Hi Jenny,

Wonderful news that Australia may come on board for PGC. In a nutshell, it's 2-pronged:

1. Propose to the school admin a formal commitment to sustainability, with short- and long-term measures of carbon footprint reduction - and connect using web networks to bring other schools into the same process;

2. Have a concert to raise awareness of the issue and simply "have fun doing good."

April 19, not April 9, is our concert day. Right now Seoul and Hawaii are definite, Los Angeles, Philippines, Dominican Republic, and Bangkok are maybes.

Any contribution your school can make - including contributing to the PGC website - is welcome. We can look forward to growing it next year.

Same-hemisphere partners are so important. I'd love for our schools to develop a relationship, so please get in touch with an email.
