Hi Clay,

Your comment: "I was asking about the value of online student work without actual (as opposed to theoretically possible) audiences." I'm with your here, I've been thinking about this recently. The point of using technology to "publish" ideas is to connect with people in a real and meaningful way. You have pointed this out before with your vampire/blogging analogy. Anyway, that's why I'm drawn to collaborative projects like 1001 Tales because students connect with a real, authentic audience which is one of the best motivators for writing that I know of. The notion of a theoretically possible audience is really a let down if at the end of the day there is no-one to talk/write to... The actual connecting and reciprocity is the point. It's late, hope that makes sense.

BTW: Graham, I'm taking the grokking to mean that he likes us.

Clay, I'm glad you found my slidecast informative and useful. After failing dismally on your Genius Test, (answered 3 of the questions with the letters swirling all over the screen before pulling the pin) I think I need some more clarification on your last phrase "grokking my drumbeat about the value of Antipodean perspectives on education". What do you actually mean? I could guess but my confidence is shot at the moment...
