Beyond School

More education. Less schooliness.

Hello, Malaysia! (And thanks, NextGenTeachers!)

Last post, I said goodbye to ePals. So how nice, now, to say hello to Malaysia!

Ms. Cofino, of Mont’ Kiara International School in Kuala Lumpur, found out about the 1001 Flat World Tales world writing workshop/”blook” project through NextGenTeachers‘ podcast (she’s also a member, but couldn’t make the discussion the night we recorded). Next, she went to the 1001teachers wiki we’ve created for the project, and bam–she’s in.

So now we’ve got some nice symmetry for the project: two North American countries, two East Asian ones….

….Bookends, when you think about it (especially when you include Chris in Hawaii as representing the US). Now let’s add some cultures and countries between the two extremes.

(ePals, are you taking notes on how real, non-commercial, school collaboration can work?)
