Planning the Next Shift: 1:1 Laptop School?

If anybody out there has advice for the do’s and don’ts of implementing a 1:1 Laptop policy, I’m all ears. Especially on these questions:

  1. One grade at a time, or all at once?
  2. Macs or PCs?
  3. Pedagogical and professional development groundwork before the shift?
  4. Tech considerations?
  5. The business end: beyond initial price tags?
  6. Other lessons from experienced travelers?

I would really appreciate input on this one. :)

Take a look at this as one example: http://www.mainelearns.org/ Maine has been involved in their initiative for about 3 years now. You might also contact Bob Sprankle or Cheryl Oakes (I think it is) who have been in the forefront there.
