Shift Happening: Another New Teaching Habit

I’m embarrassed. I’ve been using Bloglines as my “hourly newspaper/magazine/blogzine” (and “infinite reading machine”) for at least a year or two. But only this weekend did I pull my head out of my nether-regions and realize that I could be using it for student blog and wiki management and assessment as well.
So I just subscribed to all my students’ blogs and wikis, so they all come to me now. No more “million-tab grading.” Unbelievable. (I think I owe Clarence Fisher thanks for this one. He’s been posting a good bit lately on Remote Access about the big-picture, seamless info-management skills he’s developing in his students. It was reading his blogs that caused a “click” in my tree-focused brain.)
So here’s a screencast to show you the beauty and power of it all. Enjoy. (It’s about six minutes. It answers traditional teacher negativity about changing habits of mind about edtech in teaching.)
If you like this post, please spread it:
(But don't tag it "education." That will bury it.)

By the way, I’m glad to see del.icio.us added to the mix. I’m just starting to add RSS to my learners’ vocabulary and toolkit, so I’m all ears for tips from Those Who’ve Traveled Farther
